THINKING

My dad's mother, otherwise known as Grandma Zim, passed away ten years ago. Even though I was never lucky enough to know Grandma Zim from the perspective of an adult, I remember her as being a very caring grandmother and a person I wish I could have got to know better.

My "Auntie" Iris is Grandma Zim's baby sister. During this past weekend, I was repeatedly struck by just how many mannerisms Grandma Zim and Auntie Iris share. The same sayings, the same way of laughing. I had forgotten these little things about my grandmother, but suddenly as I listened to and watched Auntie Iris, the memories came flooding back.
